Bio

Kerry Edelstein is the President & Founder of Research Narrative, a research and strategy agency offering custom audience research, strategic planning, impact evaluation, and data-driven strategic advisory and coaching. Since her childhood years as math nerd whose teen idol was Dave Barry (he signed her yearbook), Kerry has embodied a dual identity of analytical thinker and dynamic storyteller. Whether she’s designing an audience segmentation, facilitating a strategic planning workshop, or delivering a keynote to public media professionals, translating data into organizational actions and strategy is her superpower. Throughout her career, she’s advised many renowned commercial media brands such as Netflix, Disney, Amazon Studios, Discovery, YouTube, and Viacom, public media outlets such as NPR, WNET, WNYC, KQED, WHYY, WAMU, WDAV, and Koahnic Broadcast Corp, and educational institutions such as UCLA, USC, UVA, and RIT. A vocal advocate for multicultural strategy and representative research design, she was awarded the Insights Association’s “2022 IA Laureate” designation for her work in championing representation in research. Prior to launching Research Narrative, Kerry was Vice President of Research & Analytics for Joost Media, an online video destination and video ad network, and Vice President of Research at media research and consulting firm SmithGeiger. Kerry began her career in the Youth and Education division of Harris Interactive, where her work on “Rock the Vote” introduced her to the intersection of media and education – a combination that’s become central to both her career and volunteer work. An advocate for arts education, Kerry previously served as Vice President of the Board of Directors for CHAMPS Charter High School, an LAUSD-chartered media and performing arts high school. She holds an MBA from The Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA and received her B.S. in Biometry and Statistics from Cornell University. Currently a resident of Charlotte, NC, Kerry moonlights as a hip hop dancer, spouse to an award-winning craft brewer, and dog mom to a manipulative Blue Heeler named Barleigh.

Additional areas of expertise include impact evaluation for government and foundation grant programs and competitive analysis and landscape reviews.
